The Philippines has since been under two more typhoons (Pepeng and Lupit) after typhoon Ondoy's. Typhoon pepeng hit as hard as typhoon Ondoy. As a result, PATAC continues its online fundraising campaign for the victims of typhoons.

During those period. donations directed to NCCP will be coursed through the United Church of Canada (UCC). For donations $20 and above directed to NCCP, UCC will issue a Canadian tax receipt.  For donations directed to other organizations, no tax receipts will be issued. OPERATION SAGIP MIGRANTE

Operation "Sagip-Migrante" (migrant rescue) is helping to facilitate the smooth remittance of the relief funds and goods to the right people.  OFWs are called modern-day heroes for the billions of dollars they remit to their homeland in support of their families.  The ability of OFW’s to collect donations for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy will go a long way in combating the disease, hunger and displacement due to the aftermath of the floods.

Typhoon Ondoy

"Then I read, heard, saw and felt the far worse situations of other people - people who were on their roofs, people who were waiting to be rescued, to be fed, to be clothed and to feel warm, people who tried to swim but did not make it, babies floating, old women being soaked for several hours, who were shocked, who were not able to dry themselves and their houses, they have wanted to see the water/floods to settle and be able leave but  did not make it.  Men who tried their best to help and paid so dearly with their lives."  Merci Ferrer, Quezon City Philippines

As in every recent disaster, modern technology has again played a prominent role in keeping the populace abreast with widespread destruction. A large part of these videos and images came from the victims themselves who posted them in Facebook and YouTube. (Posted in The Pinoy Post by Melvin G.
